The Blue Beast is BACK!

After a brief admission to the mechanic shop,  I am happy to report that my 10 year relationship with my car will continue. And I'm super pumped about this. The last thing we needed was another car payment as we are fixing to pay both a mortgage and rent. Ugh.

Now, this is good news for us, and very bad news for Richard's Car Care in Edmond. See that's the place we took her first and they told us she needed a new engine, at the rock-bottom price of $6,500. That didn't quite seem right to me since the car is worth about $4500 on KBB with a working engine. So I called Jared and Dad and Matt called his friend in Mississippi who is a mechanic and the verdict was unanimous--that was a crock of horse shit! Fast forward to after Thanksgiving--take her to the Dodge dealer and there are various things wrong that need fixed, such as a new water pump, a new hose on the coolant system and spark plugs that are supposedly needing changed every 30k miles. Whatever. Now, why is this bad news for Richard's? Because I've got my bill and will be going back to ream them up one side and down the other and demand the $150 they charged Matt for the BS diagnostic test. They can either give me my money back or I can tell all 10,000 of my co-workers to never go there.  Ball is in their court...

And I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to the Buick Lucerne they put me in for 2 days. I kind of liked that Granny Wagon! I just realized this is probably about as interesting as the Punkin' Chunkin' story Cam told on Modern Family. I apologize.

Oh, and after we picked the car up we went to a pizza place to grab dinner. Fancy was actually behaving (Lord, I hope she's not getting sick) and there were two old ladies just oohing and ahhhing over her. (They have NO idea!) They looked local and we are looking for a rental house so we struck up a conversation. Apparently one of them taught school for 30 years in Nichols Hills and Matt said that after teaching kids so long he would think she'd have gray hair. Her response? "Well, if I'd let it go I would." To which her friend said "yeah, then she'd look like me." And I'll be damned if that "brunette" didn't say "whatever, she's just a lot older than me!" And that is why I love old ladies! They couldn't have been a day under 80.
