10 Months and 2011

First, I can't believe that this girl
is 10 months old today! Where is this first year going?! For reals. I call shenanigans on how fast she is growing. (I know this pic is not her at 10 months, but I just like the way she looks in this pic--large and in charge, just sitting back and chillaxin!) This is actually the latest picture I have of her since I am slacker and didn't get the camera out today to properly document this milestone.

To celebrate her 10 months we went to Hattiesburg to eat at Newk's and go by Best Buy to pick up a couple Blu-ray DVDs. Okay, all that was just because the hubs and I wanted to go out to eat and get a Blu-ray other than the 2 Disney movies Fancy got in her stocking at Christmas so we could check it out on Matt's new PlayStation3 (yes, I am the best wife ever for getting him that for Christmas--and it's also why I haven't had much conversation with him since Christmas as he's building his "dynasty" on his NCAA Football game, whatevs).  But to assuage our guilt, we stopped at Toys R' Us and got Miss Fancy Pants these:

And Matt thought she needed a stuffed animal, so he showed up at the register with a stuffed chimpanzee as well. I am tempted to take the learn and groove table back so I can order the pink one from Amazon, but I know I probably won't just in case we ever have a boy. And yes, this all depends on Husband agreeing to have more children. He thinks I'm crazy for wanting any more, but I will win this. I can't imagine being an only child and I definitely want Emma to have at least 1 brother or sister.

Some things Miss Thang is doing now:
  • CRAWLING!!!!! I thought the day would never come, but she just decided to crawl one day while we were at the ranch for Christmas and hasn't stopped since. She is into everything now and I'm really wondering why I wanted her to be mobile.
  • Dancing. This is hilarious because she sits there and just shakes her shoulders back and forth and tries to move her mid-section. But with her belly it ends up looking like the "Truffle Shuffle." If you don't know what that is I'm afraid we can no longer be friends!
  • Eating lots of table food. She thinks she's way too sophisticated for baby food now, so she's been eating a lot of what we eat lately. Over Christmas we discovered that she loves sugar cookies, real sweet potatoes and homemade pancakes. She of course loves McD's hotcakes, but she snarfed down 1 whole buttermilk pancake that my mom made....which are probably some of the best pancakes in the world!
  • Still loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Uncle Jared and Aunt Amanda got her 1 of the DVDs for Christmas. Matt and I can't wait to watch it....
On to 2011.....

2010 was one of the best years of my life by far! And Fancy has everything to do with that.  I'm trying to remember what Matt and I did before she was born.  Here is a rough re-cap of our year:

January and February I was fat as a house so I don't have any pics from those months.

In March we welcomed Emma Mae Simmons and became a family of 3!

She has been a true blessing to us, and I thank God every day for giving her to us. And this includes the days she is not so fun to be around.

We also attended my best friend's wedding. Fancy behaved beautifully as she slept throughout the entire ceremony.

In April Matt and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary. I'm not sure how it is possible, but we're already about to celebrate number 3! We've come a long way and seen a lot of changes since we were these two law students who really didn't have a care in the world!

Yes, I used to be blonde AND tan...sigh.

In May we traveled to Kansas...

and celebrated Emma's Baptism in the same church Matt and I were married in...

In June I guess we didn't do anything too exciting, but here are some pics:

In July we started solids

and Fancy was less than impressed.  We also traveled to Lake Tahoe for the 4th with Mom's entire family. It was a blast!

In August we went on Fancy's first road trip/girls' weekend to the beach with Aunt Sam. She did NOT abide by the rules of the beach!

(Seriously, am I the only one who just LOVES this picture?!)

September brought the arrival of Emma's friend, MaryCollis. She is such a sweetheart and is 6 months, to the day, younger than Emma. Emma can't wait for her to get a little bigger so they can play together!

October was Emma's first Halloween and trip to the Pumpkin Patch.

It also happens to be the month in which Fancy's Japanese heritage made an appearance...

November. Blah. Ugh. Blech. I turned 30. Halfway to 60. BUT....it sure as hell beats the alternative, right?!

December brought visitors. Colby and Tripp came to visit, and Tripp and Fancy's love began to bloom...

(These pics make Tripp look a bit too smothering, but I'm confident that one day he'll get that aloof thing down and it will drive Emma cuh-razy! Just sayin.)

Matt turned 31, and it was Emma's First Christmas

I also killed my third deer with a bow.

I think there are some exciting things in store for the Simmons household in 2011, but I will hold off on all that until we know for sure. Just don't want to jinx it! I hope all of you had a wonderful 2010 as well and have an even better 2011.
