23 Months

So I was going to post about how Fancy is 23 months old today. One month shy of two years. It's crazy to think about and somewhat emotional to face the fact that my "baby" is growing up. I thought I would write about all the words she is saying and how much she is learning at school. But after the evening we've had, I decided I'd just tell you where we are with Miss Fancy.

She is her father's daughter, fo sure. She's developed a new "thing" that she thinks is just absolutely hilarious. And that would be flatulence. But like her daddy says "eight or eighty, farts are funny." Fancy definitely agrees with the saying. She farts all. the. time. Or so it seems. And then she laughs about it. She farted in the tub tonight and yelled "bubbles!" The I was getting her dressed and she did it again, laughed and said "Emma tooted!" Then started pretending her baby doll was tooting. It's kind of disturbing, and I am sure she will love that I actually wrote about it, but it's really kind of funny to me that an almost two year old already thinks this stuff is funny.

As for real updates, Fancy is learning a ton at the Child Development Center! This week they are learning all about dinosaurs and doing various projects. Here she is walking on a sticky dinosaur tongue.

  • She's talking up a storm and is well on her way to being completely potty trained. Again, courtesy of school.
  • She also paints every day, which means I'm going through Resolve stain remover at an alarming rate.
  • Still stuck on the paci. It's going to be a glorious few days when we quit that cold turkey pretty soon. We're thinking we might let Papa and Mi-ma do that while we're in Aspen. :-) Fancy has called my dad Papa for quite awhile now, and today she just started saying Papa and Mi-ma, so I guess that's what she's going with.
  • Has informed me we will have a "Mickey Mouse Birthday" and sings Happy Birthday to herself every morning and every evening while we're in the car.
  • Always says she wants her hair in a ponytail and then runs away screaming when I try to put it up. Not frustrating at all.
  • I'll have her weight and height next month at her 2 year check up.
